Hi again! I’m writing this post from Vermont, where I have been quarantining for the past seven weeks. When I left NYC on May 15th, I never thought I would be in VT for more than two months – but I was so wrong! Throughout this time at home, I’ve been sending lots of letters and little care packages to friends and family. This has been a fun way to stay in touch, and also to support small, local businesses. Below are some fun ideas for quarantine care packages to send to your friends and family!

Local products from small businesses

Many local business are struggling right now. Buying local products for friends in other states is a great way to support local business and to treat your friends! I’ve sent maple syrup to many of my friends (a VT specialty), but each state has its own local gems! Since everyone is mostly eating at home, honey, homemade jams, or local sweets are great options!

Books

People have more time to read than ever! So sending along one of your favorite books is a great option. After you both read the book you can discuss it over FaceTime!

Crafting Kits

I’ve been trying to get crafty during quarantine, but unfortunately I’ve had a horrible time with shipping. In March I ordered a cross stitch kit as well as yarn to make macrame rainbows. It’s now May, and neither of the items have arrived. Because of this, I recommend ordering crafting kits from Amazon or Michael’s. All of my orders from these two online shops arrived super quickly.

Maggie and I ordered a tie-dye kit and white shirts from Michaels, and it was a super fun project! Send some tie dye supplies to your friends, or your friends with kids, and it’s sure to be a hit!

Mini Puzzles

It seems like everyone has been doing lots of puzzles these days! I love these mini puzzles that come in little tubes. They don’t take up a lot of space in care packages, and they’re also super cute!

Candy Subscription Box

Who doesn’t love a fun subscription box? Now, there are many that offer one month subscriptions, instead of the standard 3-6.

Dylan’s Candy Bar has a an adorable rainbow candy tackle box, that anyone would love to receive. You can also gift cute candy boxes from Candy Club. With this company, you can also include gift messages for special occasions, like Mother’s Day or birthdays!

Finally, Amazon has a selection of candy and snack box options. Click here for the CraveBox Care Package, and here for the Retro Candy Box – you can pick your decade!

Coffee and Chocolate Box

Honestly I’m pretty sure coffee and chocolate are what’s getting me through this quarantine. Now you can send you friends and family a cute coffee + chocolate combo pack! This box comes with four bags of coffee, and four chocolate bars that have complimentary tasting notes. Click here to check it out.

Succulent Delivery

Many people are quarantining in cities, and therefore might not be seeing as much greenery as they would like to. Send some low maintenance succulents to brighten someone’s day, and to give them a little piece of nature while being indoors.

Greetabl

These sweet card cubes are so much fun to receive in the mail. You can design them completely online, and customize them with your own photos and message! You also have the option to include a cute surprise inside of your card cube, like gummies, stickers, confetti or pour over coffee!

I received a Greetabl in the mail recently and it was such a fun surprise. I highly recommend sending these out to friends and family. They also make great birthday cards!

Stickers and Cards from Red Bubble

Red Bubble is a site where independent artists can sell their designs! They have amazing stickers, stationary, prints, shirts and more! More than 700,000 artists sell their creations on Red Bubble, and this is a great way to support small, independent businesses.

There are so many cute greeting cards and stickers to choose from. Order a bunch and send them out to friends and family!

Face Masks

In this case I mean face masks for skin care – although you can always sew your own protective face masks and send those along too! Face masks will help your loved ones relax and take care of their skin during this stressful time.

I’ve been really loving the Lily Sado face masks – especially the Rose Berry mask. They are all natural, and only use clean ingredients. They’re also vegan and do not test on animals! You can order the masks from Amazon here, or from their website here. Use the code 20ROSEBERRY to get 20% off your whole order on their website!

Bath Bombs

Keeping with the self care theme, bath bombs are a great option. Lush has tons of pretty bath bombs to choose from, and they also have a large assortment of gift boxes filled with bath products!

If you have a friend who is celebrating a birthday in quarantine, these boxes would make a great gift!

Amazon also has cute options that you can check out here (they’re organic!). If you’re shopping for kids, click here and here for some adorable options!

Hand Lotion

After washing and sanitizing our hands 5,000 times a day we definitely all need hand lotion! I love lotion bars because they’re zero waste.

Click here for a lavender scent and here for a coconut lemon scent.

Cameo Video

Cameo is a site where you can pay to have celebrities create short video messages personalized to you (or your friend!) Pricing starts at just $15, but gets into the hundreds for bigger celebrities.

  • $15 you can have Santa send a message to your kids
  • $80 you can get John Finlay from Tiger King
  • $100 you can get Paula Deen
  • $135 you can get Jim O’Heir (Jerry from Parks and Rec!)

There are really a ton of options and a bunch of price points – click here to check them out!

Dinner/Dessert Delivery

If you live in the same town as your friends/family, and their home is easily accessible – make dinner for them and leave it on their doorstep! This is a fun way to let your friends and family know that you’re thinking about them. If you’re really in the mood for cooking, make big batches and deliver ready-to-eat dinners all over town!

If you’re more of a dessert person, homemade treats are always a great option!

Insomnia Cookie Delivery

If you don’t live close to your friends and family, you can still send them food deliveries! Insomnia Cookie is one of my favorites to send; their cookies are delicious. Insomnia Cookie also ships nationwide – which is another great option.

If Insomnia Cookies aren’t your thing, you can also send tons of other treats, like Edible Arrangements, Milk Bar cookies or Baked by Melissa cupcakes.

  3. Love these care package ideas! Here in Toronto, cocktail kits have been all the rage. Local bars are delivering kits that include all the ingredients and instructions to make a delicious, pandemic-themed cocktail. It’s a lot of fun and a great way to support local bars that are struggling with the mass closures.
