Hello again! As we all know, 2020 has been a rough year, and one of super limited travel. Maggie and I, like most others, spent most of 2020 in quarantine. However, we were still able to sneak in a couple trips pre-Covid, as well as a few local, socially distanced trips during the summer months. In this post we will be sharing our 5 best 2020 trips and vacations, that definitely helped make 2020 a little more manageable.
To note: When we did take small trips during Covid-19 we always followed all CDC guidelines and were extremely cautious. We quarantined, wore masks, got tested regularly and always social distanced. Click here to check out our must haves for traveling safely during a pandemic.
Patagonia, Argentina
In January of 2020 I visited Patagonia for the first time and I instantly fell in love with beauty of the region. My absolute favorite place I visited in Patagonia was San Martin de los Andes, and I highly recommend planning a trip to this little town. It is surrounded by lakes and mountains and is incredibly beautiful! It also has some of the world’s most delicious chocolate.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Technically this trip started in 2019, but since it ended in January 2020 I’m counting it! Buenos Aires is another amazing city that I cannot wait to return to in the future. I absolutely loved the neighborhood of La Boca, and I spent hours purchasing beautiful art on the streets. The neighborhood is so colorful and Instagramable, and it’s so fun to walk around and sightsee.
I also love the Alpeh Cafe, named after a story written by my favorite Argentine author, Jorge Luís Borges. This cafe is definitely a must-visit in La Boca.
Montreal, Quebec
While I was in Argentina for New Year’s Eve, Maggie visited Montreal with friends. Montreal is definitely one of our favorite cities, and Maggie had a blast exploring the city and its great nightlife. Montreal definitely makes a great New Year’s Eve, or winter, destination!
Stowe, Vermont
During the summer Vermont had super low rates of Covid, and I was able to plan a trip to Stowe for the weekend. Stowe is about an hour away from where I grew up in Vermont, but I had never visited for longer than a day trip. I stayed at the Trapp Family Lodge, from The Sound of Music, and I had so much fun exploring the estate and seeing all of the farm animals.
Stowe is a beautiful town year-round, and there are always tons of outdoor activities to take part in!
Big Sky, Montana
In August, I visited Big Sky with my boyfriend’s family. This was my third time visiting Big Sky in the summer, and it is always so much fun! Like in Vermont, it’s easy to social distance in Montana, and the state, at the time, had low rates of Covid. I had such a wonderful time going on hikes, visiting the farmer’s markets, and even doing a little fishing. Sadly, this was my last “real” trip of 2020, but I’m hoping to visit Big Sky again in 2021 to ski!
Our 2020 travels started off strong, but, of course, were quite limited later in the year. We feel so fortunate that we still were able to travel some, and we’ve been planning a bunch more trips for when it’s safe to travel internationally again. Here’s hoping that 2021 brings us all safety, happiness and lots of travel!

It looks like you had an incredible start to the year! Your Argentina photos are incredible! Here’s to 2021, hopefully it’ll be even better!
From Patagonia to Big Sky! Wow! It is like a dream of mine!
Glad to see you were able to safely travel. I was in Stowe this summer too!
Buenos Aires looks amazing. Was supposed to go this year. Hoping this year I will be able to visit. Such a great post!
So lucky that you were still able to travel in 2020 – your trips look amazing as well. I hope it will be easier to travel again in 2021 🙂
Had fun reading your Argentina posts! My husband is from Argentina – it is a special place to us 🙂
