Hello! As many of you know, Maggie and I try to only use clean, all-natural, beauty products. After researching common ingredients in beauty products, we have come to realize that many major beauty companies use tons of harmful chemicals that can cause long term health effects for users. These harmful ingredients are totally legal in the US, despite the fact that exposure to these chemicals has been linked to certain cancers, reproductive issues and other serious health problems. Sadly, there hasn’t been any legislation or regulations on the beauty industry in the US since 1938 – even though our knowledge about the effects of these chemicals has grown exponentially. Because there is little regulation, it is super important to do your own research and to only use safe products. In this post we’ve done that work for you! Below you will find our 5 favorite clean and affordable beauty brands!

Skin Care

1: Mad Hippie

In addition to their cute name, Mad Hippie makes amazing serums and creams! My favorites are the Exfoliating Serum and the Face Cream with Anti Wrinkle Peptide Complex. All of their products are around $20-$30, and I’ve really liked everything I’ve tried!

2: Acure

Acure makes my favorite moisturizers! They are so wonderful and always leave my skin feeling fresh and hydrated. I am obsessed with their Brightening Day Cream, and use it almost every day. I also am a huge fan of their deodorant! Acure focuses on skin and hair care, not makeup, and most all of their products are under $20! Definitely a great place to stock up on skin care products!

3: Pacifica

Pacifica is a great clean-beauty brand, especially for teenagers and young adults. All of their products come in pretty packaging (unfortunately, plastic), and their makeup and skin are items are aesthetically pleasing.

I love most all of their makeup and their skin care products, but two of my favorites are the Stellar Gaze Length & Strength Mascara Supernova Black Mascara and the Wake Up Beautiful Mask. Most of their products are under $20, and I’ve been super happy with everything I’ve purchased over the years.

4: Honeybee Gardens

Honeybee Gardens makes my favorite powder foundation! It’s the perfect shade for me and gives just the right amount of coverage. Additionally, at $12 it’s a great price. Their foundations do ship in a plastic holder, so I also recommend getting the Refillable Foundation Powder Compact with Puff.

With so many great beauty products, and affordable prices, Honeybee Gardens is a great option!

5: Beauty Counter

I started using my mom’s Beauty Counter products during a trip to Vermont, and I am now obsessed with them. They work so well, only have clean ingredients, and also come in glass bottles! Their products are on the pricey side, but if they’re in your skin-care budget then definitely consider them. For the quality of the products, I think they are definitely worth it. I’m saving up for one of their product collections, and I am super excited to start using their products more frequently.

Beauty Counter has both skin care products and makeup. I highly, highly recommend the Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil ($50), I think it’s my favorite cleanser of all time. It does such a great job removing makeup and leaving your skin fresh and soft!
