The Best Things to do in Toledo Ohio
1: Have Brunch at Fowl and Fodder
A great first stop on a Toledo adventure is brunch at Fowl and Fodder!
The restaurant has a farm-to-table focus, and they aim to use local produce and ingredients as often as possible. Everything on the menu looked delicious, but I decided to go with the avocado toast, and it was so good! You also can’t go wrong with their waffles, they are delicious. Everything tasted so fresh, and we cannot wait to come back on our next trip to Toledo!
If you’re looking for a great place to eat in Toledo, but aren’t in the mood for brunch, I recommend checking out Tony Packo’s. Tony Packo’s is famous in Toledo, and the restaurant serves up Hungarian style hot dogs as well as other traditional dishes.
2: Check out the Toledo Museum of Art
The Toledo Museum of Art is seriously such a hidden gem – this museum is amazing!
I’ve been to art museums all over the world and I can easily say that the Toledo Museum of Art is in the top ten of the best art museums I’ve visited.
The museum is massive, there are 45 galleries and tons of collections and exhibitions. They even have artwork by Matisse, Van Gogh and Monet – just to name a few. You could easily spend hours and hours in the museum, walking through each gallery and enjoying the amazing art work.
The best part is, the museum is free to visit!

3: Visit the Botanical Gardens
When I decided to visit Toledo I was most excited about visiting the Botanical Gardens, as I had heard such great things about them.
Unfortunately, when I tried to visit they were closed to prepare for an event. I was super disappointed, as they really looked gorgeous and I would have loved to walk around.
What I was able to see of the gardens was really lovely and I highly recommend checking them out on your visit. The botanical gardens are free to visit!
4: Check out Wildwood Preserve
Toledo has lovely outdoor spaces, and a great place to visit is Wildwood Preserve.
At Wildwood Preserve there are many walking trails and they are a great place for an afternoon walk. There are also lots of green spaces for picnics, and play structures for kids!
The park is almost 500 acres, and it is a great place to go and enjoy nature.

5: Visit the Wildwood Manor House
Also located within Wildwood Preserve is the beautiful Manor House, formerly owned by the Stranahan family.
The entirety of Wildwood Preserve was once the Stranahan family estate, and now visitors can enjoy both the park and take tours of the Manor House. The home itself is a beautiful Georgian colonial style mansion, and it is so nice to walk around the gardens and to see the lovely home.
Tours of the Manor House are offered, but the hours seem to be a little sporadic. Currently, the Manor House appears to be open for tours on Sundays from 11am-5pm. Guided tours of the home are free, and no advanced reservations are required!
I hope you enjoyed my recommendations for the best things to do in Toledo Ohio! Toledo is such a surprising city with so many fun and free activities!
It makes a great road trip stop, or a day trip from Ann Arbor/Detroit, Michigan!
