Hello there! The Seven Hills Inn in the Berkshires is an adorable hotel that makes the perfect weekend getaway.
Located in the gorgeous town of Lenox, in the heart of the Berkshires, The Seven Hills Inn is a quaint and picturesque hotel with beautiful grounds and guest rooms. I spent a wonderful weekend at The Seven Hills Inn, and I definitely recommend considering staying there when you travel to the Berkshires.

Location – Berkshires Weekend Getaway
The Seven Hills Inn is located about 2 miles outside of the town center in Lenox. In the town of Lenox you’ll find a great selection of restaurants, cafes, shops and parks.
The location of the inn outside of the town center creates a secluded feel. It is the perfect weekend getaway spot.
From the Seven Hills Inn you’re a 5 minute drive to Lenox, 5 minutes to the town of Lee, and less than 10 minutes to the town of Stockbridge. This makes it an ideal location to explore nearby areas and the adorable tiny towns. Additionally, the Inn is located right next door to The Mount, former home of author Edith Wharton – a must visit site during your time in the Berkshires!
Inn + Estate
The Seven Hills Inn is divided into three buildings located a stone’s throw away from each other.
The main building of the Inn is called the Manor House, and next door there is also the Carriage House and the Terrace House. All of the buildings are a similar style, and the decor of the guest rooms is nearly identical.
The Seven Hills Inn was formerly a summer “cottage” for a wealthy family during the Gilded Age (1870s – 1900s). Although the Inn itself is over 100 years old, the rooms are updated and decorated in a chic, minimalist style. The Inn is primarily decorated in a royal blue and golden yellow combination, and I love the two colors together!
Although the standard guest rooms aren’t huge, they are perfectly suitable for two people.
The standard rooms also do not have a table and chairs, but there are tons of lovely communal spaces on the first floor of the Manor House that can be used for reading and relaxing.
In our room the Wifi worked very well – which is something that is important to me! I also appreciated that the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean!
If you prefer a larger room, or are visiting the Seven Hills Inn for a special occasion, I highly recommend the Edith Wharton Suite. It is absolutely gorgeous and very large.
You enter into a small sitting room and there is also a large bedroom with a bed and couch. The bathroom is stunning, and features a beautiful clawfoot tub.
This room is perfect for a special occasion and I definitely recommend booking it!
Grounds at the Seven Hills Inn
In addition to the beautiful interior of the Inn, the hotel grounds are also lovely.
There is a large patio located at the back of the Manor House, and it is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast and a coffee or to read a book or play a board game.
You can also take a walk along the paths, or down the road to The Mount. The Seven Hills Inn also provides bikes, if you would like to take a bike ride around the grounds!
Finally, during the summer months, there is an outdoor pool to enjoy. You could easily spend a full afternoon relaxing and reading outside when the weather is nice.
Lastly, there is ample free parking outside of the Inn. The Inn has a large parking lot directly in front of the Manor House, and there is plenty of room for guests’ cars.
Seven Hills Inn Review
One thing that really stands out to me about the Seven Hills Inn is the staff. They were all so kind and accommodating! They truly want your stay to be enjoyable and they are incredibly helpful in providing information about things to do in the area. We felt so welcomed, and this really made our stay even better.
I also really loved the location of the Inn, it was easy to access the surrounding towns, but the Inn felt secluded and quiet. We visited in the Spring, but the Inn would certainly also be lovely in the Summer and Fall!
Although we did have a lovely stay at The Seven Hills Inn, I find it important to note that the walls in the Manor House (the main building) are very, very thin. I am not sure if this is the case in all of the rooms, but we could hear almost all of the conversations taking place in the room next door to us. We were in a connecting room, although we weren’t traveling with the guests next door – so it could be that the locked doors between the connecting rooms allowed more sound to travel through than a regular wall does. After speaking with the hotel staff, we were kindly moved to a new room, and during our second night we had no trouble sleeping, and we didn’t hear any conversations through the walls.
The Seven Hills Inn is reasonably priced compared with other hotels in the area. I found the rate (of around $190 per night) to correspond nicely with the location, grounds and service at the hotel. Click here for the most up to date rates and to book!
Seven Hills Inn Haunted History
I love a good haunted hotel, and while the Seven Hills Inn isn’t as haunted as many that I’ve visited, it still has a spooky history.
Due to the fact that the hotel was built so long ago, the Seven Hills Inn is a place that can easily gain a haunted reputation. Guests and employees have reported seeing a ghostly woman in white in some of the hotel’s guestrooms. Many people believe that this ghost is, in fact, Emily Meredith Read Spencer, the former owner of the property in the early 1900s.
Like with many other haunted hotels, there have also been reports of music playing with no one around, and objects moving from their locations seemingly on their own.
The Inn’s location, outside of the main town, adds to the historic and haunted feel of the hotel.
Lastly, there is an old, abandoned safe in the hotel that can no longer be opened. No one currently alive knows the safe’s combination, and it therefore remains unopened and a mystery.
Although I didn’t experience any paranormal activity during my time at the Seven Hills Inn, I can see how it got its haunted reputation. Interestingly, the Seven Hills Inn’s sister hotel, the Red Lion Inn, is also said to be haunted!

Final Thoughts
Overall, I definitely enjoyed my time at The Seven Hills Inn! I certainly recommend the hotel for those traveling to the Berkshires – with the caveat that you should ask for a room that does not connect to another room. Unless, of course, you are traveling with others and prefer your rooms to connect. I believe that this will help block the noise that travels through the walls.
The Inn and the grounds are so peaceful, and it is a fantastic spot for a weekend getaway in the beautiful Berkshires.

Great review of the Seven Hills inn in Berkshires! I love clawfoot tubs – they look classy. It is a negative thing that walls are thin and conversations in adjacent rooms can be heard. Edith Wharton suite is my choice. 🙂
